I have an exciting post and giveaway for you today, my fellow foodie friends! Enter below for your chance to win a gluten free snack pack from the lovely folks at Tutti Gourmet. Note – I am NOT being compensated for this review. This is simply me wanting to extend my excitement about a Canadian company doing fabulous things and share the knowledge that whole food snacking is possible.
I have a really hard time with it. I find it a challenge to give myself some form of energy in-between meals. Sometimes this is because I’m not hungry. Sometimes it is because I am too busy to actually sit down and before I know it I am nearing on dinner time. But sometimes it is because I just don’t know what to have. Sure I could have a latte every day of my life or run to the nearest gas station for a chocolate bar – and there is absolutely nothing wrong with this on occasion – but in general I’d really like to give myself snacks that are truly nutritious and made with whole foods. When it comes to meals, I have no problem coming up with these options. But when it comes to snacks? I’m kind of a lost bunny.
As I am trying to increase my caloric intake, heal my metabolism and get my digestive system running at a better pace, I am really trying to make snacks a conscious part of my day. You have to continuously “fuel the fire,” in order to get it burning, after all. Our metabolisms actually need MORE – and to be fueled on a frequent basis – in order to stay revving. What a mind trick, eh? Especially when your so called “hunger” is trailing behind. So I’ve been actively seeking out snacking options that are not only delicious, but also portable, easy to pack, satisfying yet not too heavy, and made with whole food nutrition.
Some options I have come up with are:
Mixed Nuts or chocolate covered almonds
Full Fat Yogurt
2% or whole milk lattes
Crackers with peanut butter
Now as much as I love to bake and make my own snacks, my time is also precious and I – like everyone else – sometimes just need to purchase some easy to grab options to have in the cupboard. But with this, trying to adhere to my “whole food” goals becomes a little more difficult.
In my search for some new variety to keep on hand, I came across this lovely little family owned company from the picturesque town of Hudson, Quebec. Since its beginning in 1999, Tutti Gourmet has since appeared on Dragons Den Canada and is now successfully offering a unique line up of gluten free snacks to Canada and beyond. Their line up includes a variety of gluten free Biscotti (which come in almond, orange/chocolate, chocolate/almond, and pistachio/cranberry/anise), as well as “Bana Krisp” fruit crackers (which come in almond/cacao, mixed fruit, pistacio/ainise, and cafe).
The ingredient lists are plain awesome. Everything is 100% natural, GMO free and the short list of easy to name ingredients make my heart sing. Not only are the biscotti gluten free, but also wheat free, dairy free, soy free, corn free and peanut free.
Ingredients for the Orange-Chocolate Biscotti:
Gluten-free flour (brown rice, tapioca starch, organic coconut flour, arrowroot powder), organic cane sugar, whole liquid eggs, organic dark chocolate (70%), non-GMO certified expeller-pressed canola oil, essential orange oil, water, natural vanilla flavour, baking powder (no aluminium, no corn starch), xanthan gum.
The Bana Krisp crackers take it one step further and include no egg and no added sugar or salt. Just plain, simple, good for you, 100% fruits, nuts and seeds.
Ingredients for Bana Krisp Fruit Crackers:
Banana, Organic Coconut, Organic Sesame Seeds, Raspberry, Orange & Lemon Rind.
Contains: Sesame Seeds, May Contain Nuts.
It’s no lie that I am a coffee shop lover. I love my hot beverages. The only thing I love more when it comes to that blessed afternoon coffee break is having something sweet to dunk in my frothy milk. Tutti Gourmet’s biscotti is absolutely perfect for this. It rivals any standard biscotti treat with the perfect level of sweetness and dunkable resistance. Its texture is awesome and its natural flavors are pronounce.
While the biscotti offer me something to have when I have a few minutes to sit down and relax, The Fruit Crisp crackers offer me something I can throw in a zip lock and munch on as I am moving about on a busier schedule. I couldn’t believe the flavor in these guys!! So flavorful without being too sweet. Subtle hint of banana and – if you go for the chocolate variety – an awesome dose of dark cocoa.
Thanks to the generosity of the company, I have a bag of Tutti Gourmet Orange Chocolate Biscotti and Almond Cacao Fruit Crisps to send to one of my lovely readers! I’m simply excited to give something back to all of you who support me, as well as spread the knowledge that healthy snacking is oh so possible. And oh so important.
Giveaway open to Canada and the US and will end next Friday, June 17th.
