Week In Review: A Messy Wonderful Week of Auditions and (not) Packing

Hi friends!

Popping in real quick here today… as I have NO TIME!!

I’m sitting here with my coffee, hidden – literally – away in a corner amongst a mess …MESS… of half packed boxes, half empty cupboards, a lot of dust, and severely cluttered table tops. I have had literally zero time to pack this week, which just started getting a tad stressful as we start our move tomorrow and hope to get it all done within the day. Ha! Poor Dan. He has no idea what he’s getting himself into.

Anyway. I’ve had zero time to pack because I’ve had a very busy week. But busy in the best way imaginable. So let’s do the do like our friend Meg, and just get listing!

To do lists for the week. There may or may not be one or two more in the under layer…

Last week I…

  • Had rehearsal Tuesday-Friday. Rehearsals in which I did not feel stupid at
  • Somehow – amazingly – managed to fit in two commercial auditions, a call back, and a TV audition that my agent sent me out for the nights before
  • Let’s just say that all took a lot of biking and commuting
  • Also had a theatre audition to which I’ve got a callback for tonight
  • Spent time in the studio

  • Helped out on an early morning film shoot for my friends over at Cackle Productions. Check out our latest comedy sketch here and give yourself a little seasonal chuckle.

  • Had my last film class of the session in which I totally redeemed myself from last week and really enjoyed
  • I got air put in my bike tires and oiled my gears
  • I picked up my contacts (boooo new benefits not covering eye work)
  • Got a massage!! (but YAY to new benefits covering massage therapy!)
  • Killed a few hours of time in a coffeeshop where I felt like I caught up on all my online stuff – emails, submissions etc etc.

  • And consequently ate a diet 70% made of muffins. And coffee. Not complaining.

Carrot Ginger Pumpkin Bran Muffins with peanut butter + fruit + coffee

Not many relaxing mornings this week, but still some gooood eats to get me through

  • I… packed?… sort of? I gathered items to try and sell/give away, and did fill some boxes. And filled two huge garbage bags. So that’s something.

This week was really packed, but as I said to Dan one day “I’ve stretched myself really thin, I know. But I’m happy. I’m running from rehearsal to audition to audition and not making any money…. this is my dream!”

Tell me

What did you get done this week?

What is your packing-up style? Last minute? Messy? or…. well in advanced and organized? Do you pack one box at a time or have about 12 half packed boxes on the go? ‘Cause that’s not me at all…

I love your studio! And yay for a productive, busy week. Moving is just no fun, so I feel for you and Dan this week. You’ll get through it though and then enjoy your cozy new place! That comedy sketch reminded me of when I used to wear retainers, lol no fun

Haha. Oh god I wore retainers, too. AND head gear!!! Now those aren’t nice pictures to look back on…

That feeling of being stretched thin yet really happy is such an amazing one; God has definitely given me so much grace lately as our life seems to have sped up (when it usually slows down in the fall), but I am sooo happy, and I resonate totally with your feelings here after a FULL week. I love hearing about you have a plate full of opportunities to exercise your gifts.

I LOVE THIS! Your energy in this post is contagious ๐Ÿ˜€ Crossing my fingers, toes and everything for your auditions and the big move! And I am looking forward to seeing snippets of your life together in the new apartment!

Thank you Julie :). Just waiting for it all come together so I can start to get some regular living back in…

Seventy percent coffee and muffins. That sounds like my ideal diet.

Great job on all the auditions and just think, in one week you’ll be all moved and the packing will be done!!

Not even kidding. I’m not sure I know what real food is anymore.

Packing… done. Unpacking?? That’s another story.

  5. Ellie Pell | 30th Oct 17

MUFFINS! I have been loving all the sourdough this week. Muyyyyy buena!!! My packing is…well, I know I’m moving at the end of the year and really trying to downsize, so over the next two months I am getting rid of a lot, selling clothes and putting stuff in storage. I’ve got time, and can only keep the things I need. It’s quite an adjustment.
I’m sure Dan knows what he’s getting into ๐Ÿ˜‰ After all, he and you came back together for a reason right?

Your sandwiches on instagram KILL ME. Every. Time. You eat goooooooooood.

Do you know where you are moving too?? All this dowsizing and budgeting you’ve been focusing on is what fascinating, and I’m sure teaching you A LOT! I’d love to hear about it more. What have you found you’ve been downsizing most on??

  6. chasetheredgrape | 30th Oct 17

I don’t think it would surprise you to know that I am super organised when it comes to packing! Haha! But that doesn’t mean everything is easy and smooth sailing when it comes to moving… Moving day is always super stressful no matter how prepared you are beforehand! I really hope all goes well though ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Cora | 4th Nov 17

Well that made me feel better actually. The fact that its stressful no matter how you try to prepare…. glad we weren’t just complete packing failures! Aha.

  7. Hannah | 30th Oct 17

70% muffins and coffee…that’s a diet I can get behind.

I try to pack well ahead of time so I can declutter as I go, but somehow there is always SO MUCH STUFF left to pack at the last minute.

    • Cora | 4th Nov 17

Ok thank you!! This made me feel so much better! RIGHT!?! How is there all this stuff that just comes out of NOWHERE right at the end!?

  8. danielle | 31st Oct 17

i just watched that clear liner sketch, SO funny!!! and fun. i’ve always wanted fangs, like real ones. well ok i guess they can be fake but i just like the look aesthetically speaking. is that just totally nuts? probably. i don’t care. i have no desire to bite people or necks or blood, i just like the way fangs look.. ๐Ÿ™‚
i’ve moved so many times and have done everything. left it till the day of, and packed up days and weeks in advance. these days i guess i’m a bit more organized. the best thing i do is label the boxes with the contents, black sharpie markers for the win. it’s my favorite time to get rid of stuff!
i like busy weeks, busy is good for me and my mental health. go figure. idle time is not good for me!

    • Cora | 4th Nov 17

HAHA! Oh Danielle. You’re the best. I could see you with fangs. I think you are one of maybe three people (non-vampire people) in this world that could actually rock them…

I got rid of a lot, I thought, but apparently not enough. I wish I had gotten rid of more, now that I’ve brought it all into the house and seen everything I own. Plan is to do a second round of purging as I am UNpacking. We’ll see how that goes.

  9. Kat | 31st Oct 17

I’m so glad that you are in a happy place. You deserve it <3 I tend to get super stressed out when I've got lots of work – subbing multiple classes that day on top of recipes and such, but then I remember how much I love what I do and I can't help but feel so blessed by it all. Sounds like you are in the same place ๐Ÿ™‚
Good luck with the move! I do NOT envy you ๐Ÿ˜‰

๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ I think that’s what we strive for in life, no?

This type of “busy” really teaches me what in my life means the most to me/what I need in my life. Because if I’m busy and stressed but feel happy? Then this means I’m doing what I am meant to do. I love that you love what you do.

  10. Miss Polkadot | 1st Nov 17

Oh do I like the sound of this week. Busy, yes, but good-busy not annyoing/stressful/ugh-busy. It almost seems like surviving the “month from hell” and being released of the pressure of apartment hunting gave you new power and obviously mental space/clarity for other areas of life. Look at you auditioning almost every day, practicing, getting stuff done like wow and showing life youโ€™re the boss again. Itโ€™s nice seeing the โ€œrealโ€ โ€“ if you know what I mean โ€“ Cora again after the [as you know very understandable for me] doubtful and worried one from the past weeks. Go you!
No comment on packing from me because if you think youโ€™re not good at it โ€“ you donโ€™t even know how bad I am. Queen of packing procrastination and lacking any sort of organisaton? Ahem โ€ฆ me.

    • Cora | 4th Nov 17

Thank you, Sunne. You made me smile after a cruddy day <3

  11. Joyce @ The Hungry Caterpillar | 1st Nov 17

I didn’t see your celebratory Thursday post–also crazy busy–so I guess I’ll have to go back and read it. I’m sorry that you’re stressed about having to pack on top of everything else and so excited that you found a place to move into!

There has been stress, yes. But expected stress. And some good stress thrown in there, too.

I hope you can say the same! We are both busy busy busy right now it seems.
